Questions about funerals...

Can I create the type of service that I want to have?

Yes, and we encourage you to do so. By adding special touches like bringing pictures and mementos, playing special music, or any other ideas you may have, you can create the kind of atmosphere or service that will make for a more meaningful and healing experience.

How many pallbearers do we need? Who should we use?

Generally, six pallbearers are sufficient. If there are friends who would not be physically able to be pallbearers you may want to consider using them as "Honorary Pallbearers".  You may chose whomever you want to be a pallbearer, family friends, family members or anyone who you think would be appropriate. Remember that women are also capable of being pallbearers.

What do we do when death occurs out of the state?

If someone has died out of state, the first thing to do is call the funeral home that you would like to use for services. If that funeral home is in another state- that is OK- they will take care of everything from there and you needn’t contact a funeral home in the area.  Depending on what services you have chosen, either tradition funeral or cremation- the funeral director will handle all arrangements for you.  Most airlines offer a special bereavement fare and we can assist you in booking your flight if needed.

What do I do if there are family members out of town?

It is quite common in today’s mobile society that family members may live out of town and will have to come back for services. We understand that it may be necessary to accommodate the family by scheduling the services so that all those who wish to attend may do so.  In our experience, those who are out of town can obtain flights with minimal difficulty and can return for services without too much delay. The airlines will usually accommodate families and even offer a bereavement fare.
(We provide any notice of death that the airline may require to obtain this fare).

We recognize that the cost of a traditional funeral may be beyond the resources of some families. Please feel free to speak with us so that we may address your needs regardless of your situation.

If you have any questions regarding funeral services please do not hesitate to call or e-mail us.

 Questions about cremation...

What can be done with the ashes?

There are three options that a family may consider:
1. Burial in a cemetery
2. Scattering of ashes
3. Maintaining of ashes (keeping the cremains)

Are there any regulations that I need to know about with cremation?

We are required by law, in Ohio, to hold the body for 24 hours before cremation can occur.  We are also required to have a signed death certificate and burial permit before cremation can occur.  In Ohio, the next of kin will be required to sign a Cremation Authorization before cremation can take place.
